Phyllis Gould Flexon
Phyllis Gould Flexon, formerly of Toledo, Ohio died at her home on Hilton Head Island, SC on Sunday, November 12, 2006. She was 80 years old.
Mrs. Flexon was the daughter of Louis and Helen Gould of Toledo, Ohio and a graduate of the Maumee Valley Country Day School, class of 1943. After attending Harkam Junior College in Pennsylvania she married John Dirk Flexon in 1946 when he returned from naval duty in WWII. They celebrated their 60th anniversary this month.
A longtime resident of Brookside Road in Ottowa Hills, Mrs. Flexon was active in the Toledo Red Cross and served for several years on the board of the Sunset House retirement home in Toledo. Her husband’s career with Owens Illinois took her all over the country as well as several years in Brazil. Her zest for life, family and friends was legendary.
She is survived by her sister Jane Gould Mulford of Toledo Ohio, her three sons Floyd David Flexon of Ann Arbor MI, John Dirk Flexon Jr. of Amelia Island FL, Dr. Phillip Billings Flexon of Savannah, GA, and her six grandchildren: Ashley Flexon Brant, Rob Flexon, Lauren Flexon, Angelo Flexon, John Dirk Flexon III, and Kevin Flexon.
Phyllis Flexon’s death preceded her husband John’s death by a mere 40 hours. All three of her sons were with her when she died.
There will be memorial reception for the Flexons at TidePointe Residence, 700 TidePointe Way on Hilton Head Island SC, Saturday, November 18, 2006 at 3:00 PM in the main club house.
There will be a graveside service for both John and Phyllis Flexon at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo, Ohio on Saturday November 25, 2006 at 11:00 AM.
